Dear Oddur & Mimi,

I trust this finds you both in excellent health and high spirits.

Following conversations with Chris and my partners at WildTrax about your upcoming week in the Scottish Highlands, we naturally found ourselves discussing your shared love for the Land Rover Defender — and I was reminded of the stunning 130 pickups I first heard about last year.

With that spirit in mind, I’ve taken the liberty of curating something a little special — an experience designed with your pace, tranquillity, and refined style in mind. It’s my hope that it will offer your guests a day to remember amidst the wild beauty of the Highlands.

I hope what follows proves both interesting and inspiring.

Warmest regards,

Andrew Cowderoy

8th April – Arrival at Boath House

Upon your arrival at Boath House, you and your guests will be welcomed by a fleet of Land Rovers assembled in preparation for tomorrow’s Highland Micro Adventure. The fleet will include two classic Defender 110s, two Discovery 3s, and a Defender 90 — capable of comfortably carrying up to 17 of your 30 guests. These will be joined by Oddur’s Defender 110 and my own (Andrew’s) Defender 110, which will act as support vehicles throughout the journey.

9th April – The West Coast Micro Adventure

With the forecast promising sunshine on the morning of the 9th, we’ll begin the day with a hearty Scottish breakfast lovingly prepared by Iain. Afterwards, those wishing to join the adventure will board the Land Rovers for a curated journey west.

The suggested route will lead us past the striking Culloden Viaduct, the historic battlefield of Culloden, and the ancient standing stones at Clava Cairns before heading cross-country through the Highlands. The plan is to travel in convoy — led by myself — toward the remote beauty of Sanna Beach, Ardnarmurchan Point and Distillery, with the potential to explore the Isle of Mull by foot, time permitting. A highlight along the way will include passing the Glenfinnan Viaduct and pausing for a picnic in the sunshine overlooking Scotland’s breathtaking west coast.

The drive to Sanna Beach is approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes, offering a chance to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with the land, the road, and one another.

Alternative Route (Should We Desire a Shorter Day):

Should the full West Coast loop prove too long, we may explore a spectacular Highland route through the Old Grantown Road, descending into Cairngorm, Tomintoul, and Braemar, with the option to pass Balmoral Castle. We’ll then loop up through Dufftown, whisky country, before returning to Boath House for your evening dinner.

The Boring Bits

Required Documentation for Driver Verification

To ensure everything is in place ahead of your hire, we kindly ask that each driver provides the following:

  • A copy of your driving licence (front and back)

  • Two forms of proof of address matching the licence (e.g., utility bill, bank statement – dated within the last 3 months)

  • Your DVLA Check Code or a full Driver Summary (available via the DVLA website)

These are standard requirements to meet insurance criteria and ensure a smooth handover on the day.

Security Deposit & Payment Notes

  • A £1500 security deposit will be pre-authorised on your payment card at the start of the hire. This is held for the duration of the hire and is equal to the insurance excess.

  • The deposit will be pre-authorised using the same card for the booking payment by default.

  • If you wish to use a different card for the deposit, just let us know in advance, and we can send you a separate link.

Please ensure all documents are sent beforehand so we can keep everything running smoothly for your adventure.

“If you’d like to proceed, we can send you an estimate for the trip at your earliest convenience.”
